Firstly, thank you to all who have generously donated, either directly by bank transfer to KAUS, via the GoFundMe link or by bidding on items in our silent auction. Funds raised so far have helped pay for banners/signs and we have also commissioned the services of a Traffic Consultant, with work underway to expose the many flaws in the King's Dene proposals.
KAUS is volunteer-run and whilst we would like to thank each and every one of you individually, we are all working so hard to resource campaigning, marketing, admin, banner/poster distribution and gathering evidence for objections etc - your ongoing support makes a huge difference and is much appreciated. It takes a village... |

Tomorrow, Friday 6th March is the published deadline for public comments on proposals for development of up to 835 new homes in Feering.

Note that, whilst BDC encourage use of their portal to file comments, some members of the public have reported finding this tricky to set up login details, or that the automatic 30 minute logout time for comments was frustrating and limiting.
You do not have to log in to the portal; you can also express your views by email or written letter, if you prefer.

Objection to Application 26/00119/OUT – Land at Feering (Up to 835 Homes)
I wish to object to application 26/00119/OUT on the following planning grounds:
1. Transport Impact – A12 Upgrade Cancelled Since the current Local Plan evidence was prepared, the proposed A12 widening between Marks Tey and Boreham has been cancelled. This materially changes the transport context. The Transport Assessment appears to rely on assumptions based on that upgrade proceeding. Without it, the A12 corridor remains constrained, congestion persists at peak times, and network resilience is poor. I do not believe the cumulative impact has been properly reassessed in light of this confirmed change.
2. Inworth Junction Cancellation The cancellation of the proposed new four-way junction at Inworth significantly alters traffic dispersal. Greater pressure will now fall on existing junctions and village routes, increasing congestion and the risk of rat-running through Feering and Kelvedon. This does not appear to be robustly reflected in the modelling.
3. Severe Cumulative Impact Up to 835 homes represents a major increase in vehicle trips in Feering and Kelvedon. On a network already operating close to or at capacity, even modest increases can tip junctions into severe congestion. National policy states development should be refused where cumulative impacts are severe. I believe that threshold will now be met.
4. Infrastructure Phasing As this is an outline application, housing numbers would be fixed but infrastructure timing is unclear. There is insufficient certainty that schools, community facilities, sports provision and employment land would be delivered early in the development.
For these reasons, I request that the application be refused, or at the very least delayed until the cancellation of the A12 widening and Inworth junction is reversed.

IMPORTANT KINGS DENE UPDATE & ACTION REQUIRED On Tuesday, Braintree District Council (BDC) announced that the 'Regulation 18' Draft Consultation was live on the Local Plan consultation and that therefore, for the next 6 weeks they would be seeking comments from the public and other stakeholders. The deadline for comments is 17th April at 5pm.
KAUS is now working hard to produce and deliver an information leaflet to ensure that all local residents are aware of proposals to ensure that they are well informed and empowered to comment on the draft plan.
This will include full details on the various ways you can submit your objections, along with some guidance on commonly raised concerns. We will also share this by email and on our social media.
How you can help in the next week... BDC will be holding in-person events across the district for residents to attend; unfortunately, those in arguably the most affected areas have only a week's notice of these meetings.
KAUS urge as many residents from Coggeshall, Kelvedon and Feering to attend if you are able to make this and let it be known to BDC how unpopular these proposals actually are.
